Paris Saint-Germain Defeats Marseille in a Shootout to Secure French Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now claimed the prestigious cup on fourteen separate times.

Paris Saint-Germain required a dramatic leveler followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to overcome Marseille in Kuwait and capture a fourth straight Trophee des Champions title.

The European champions appeared to be sailing towards a comfortable triumph in the showdown between the Ligue 1 winners and the French Cup winners after Ousmane Dembele opened the scoring in the opening stages.

Yet, Marseille struck two times late to seize a shock advantage. Initially, the English forward converted from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking turn of fortune, the Portuguese striker grabbed a vital leveler in the final moments to send the match into a penalty shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then stood as the hero, stopping decisive attempts from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all converted successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to complete a convincing penalty win.

The record winners Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now lifted this competition for the 12th time in the last 13 seasons.
